Premium Nappies

Can you put disposable nappies on a newly circumcised boy?

How to care for it properly?

  1. Yes, but be sure to put a good sized glob of vasoline--petrolium jelly--or A&D ointment on the tip of his penis as well as smear a bit of it into the front of the diaper where it will touch his penis.
  2. Yes, just put vaseline and a gauze pad on his circumcision, and change him frequently.
  3. My sis just had a baby boy. She kept a square of gauze with some ointment or vasoline over him so that his skin would heal and not be pulled because of sticking to the front of the diaper. She did this for about the first 3 weeks, then he was healed enough not to need the gauze. Other than that and keeping him clean, there wasn't much work to taking care of the circumcision. Hope this was helpful.
  4. I used small gauze pads with a lot of A&D ointment. It worked wonderfully.
  5. What type of circumcision was performed? Was it a traditional one or did they do the Plasti-Bell procedure? Your doctor should have told you how to care for it prior to the procedure and definitely afterwards, but anyway. . . If it was a Plasti-Bell you can use diapers and there is no real care for it, other than just letting warm water run over it to clean it, which you can do when you bathe the baby. The plastic ring will usually fall off around the same time the umbilical cord falls off. I'm not sure about other procedures as my boys both had the Plasti-Bells.
  6. yes you can. just make sure there is plenty of a&d ointment(thats what i always use) on it so it doesn't stick to it. and also make sure you change him regularly and add ointment every time good luck he'll be fine
  7. Yes you can put disposable or cloth diapers on a newsly circumcised infant. You want to change his diaper frequently. If your baby has a Plastibell ring type: Gently cleanse the area with water 2 times a day or whenever it becomes soiled. Soap is usually unnecessary. A small amount of petroleum jelly or an antibiotic ointment should be applied to the incision line once a day to keep it soft during healing. Incision type (no plastic ring is present): Remove the dressing (which is usually gauze with petroleum jelly) with warm compresses 24 hours after the circumcision was done. Then care for the area as described above. When should I call my child's health care provider? Call IMMEDIATELY if your child has been circumcised recently and: The urine comes out in dribbles. The head of the penis turns blue or black. The incision line bleeds more than a few drops. The circumcision looks infected. Your baby develops a fever. Your baby is acting sick. Call during office hours if: The circumcision looks abnormal to you. The Plastibell ring does not fall off within 14 days. (Note: It can't fall off too early.) The Plastibell ring starts moving in the wrong direction.
  8. When we left the hospital they gave us packets of vaseline to put on it every changing. We put the gel on gauze then put it on top of his peepee and put the diaper on.
  9. Yes but don't forget the Vaseline.!!!
  10. Everyone has given you really great advice so far...besides the woman who said to put rubbing alcohol on your sons newly circumcised penis which would be HORRIBLY painful! Anyway I just had one more suggestion, the hospital gave me a little plastic squirt bottle to put warm water in and squirt on his penis when he had a bowel movement and it made things a lot easier than trying to wipe it. Make sure you keep petroleum jelly and gauze on him at all times and it should heal quick!
