Can I keep my baby dry in terry nappies?

I've just started to make the switch from huggies to terry flats with an overnap. Will a flushable liner keep the wet off my babys bum? Do I need anything else to go with the nappy? How can I keep his skin as dry as possible?

  1. The flushable liners don't really keep the baby dry they are mostly to catch the poop. There are certain cloth liners that do keep baby dry like flannel, but those tend to be built into the diaper itself. You should join a cloth diapering group. There are lots of great ones on Yahoo! Groups: http://groups.yahoo.com
  2. Check out www.parentingbynature.com They have all sorts of information about cloth diapering. I have been using cloth diapers with my son and I "air him out" each morning (He has naked tummy time!) Just change him frequently. I change my son before he naps and after he eats. He hasn't had a diaper rash yet...
  3. If you don't want to invest in pocket diapers, like Happy Heinys of Fuzzi Bunz the next best thing is fleece liners. You can go to the fabric store, buy some poly fleece and cut it to size. Or you can use a fleece blanket you don't need. A half meter will make a bunch of liners. you don't even have to sew the edges because fleece doesn't fray.
