How long was your baby in newborn size diapers?

I am trying to buy diapers before the baby come so that we have basically a stock pile and I am trying to estimate how many I would need of each size.

  1. Although I cannot remember how long, I know it was not a real long time. I would only buy a couple (2-3) packages and then move on to size 1.
  2. It depends on what your baby weighs at birth, and how fast he/she gains weight. Both my girls wore newborn for about 2 months. Good luck
  3. I would buy maybe one or two packs of newborn diapers. You never know how big your baby will be and how fast your baby will grow.
  4. you will probly only need one pack of newborn diappers. they grow out of them really quickly! good luck and congrats
  5. He went trough 2 bags of N size before using size 1 and 2 which passed very quickly too! Now it seems he's been in size 3 forever!
  6. my daughter only used 3 packages of the Pampers newborn swaddlers, which maybe lasted 3 weeks....but since she grew so fast i switched to size 1 by the time a month old!!
  7. My grandson wore newborn size diapers until he was 3 months old, it really depends on how much the baby weighs when he/she is born.
  8. I don't remember how long my daughter was in each size (she's 6 years old), but my son (6 weeks), was only in newborn sized diapers long enough to finish 1 jumbo-sized pack. Now he's in size 1, and has beenfor about 4 1/2 weeks. I'd estimate maybe another 2 weeks before he's in size 2. How big your baby is to start and fast it grows makes a big difference, though. My son was 7 pounds, 4 oz. at birth, but gained weight quickly. He was 10 # 5oz at his 1 month checkup. To be safe, you should probably buy only 1 pack of newborn size, 2-3 packs of size 1, and wait til the baby comes to buy the rest. It'd really stink to buy a lot of one size and not be able to use them all up. You could stock up on Wal-Mart or Target gift certificates, then just buy the diapers as you need them in whatever size you need...just a thought.
  9. It really depends on your baby's size at birth and whether they're breast or formula fed. Breast fed babies tend to gain weight faster. Size 3 and 4 are the sizes you really should stock up on the most , because they stay in those sizes the longest. And make sure you get the biggest box of baby wipes you can find.
  10. I printed out a list of things on-line that is needed when a baby is born. It said have 2-3 packs of newborn diapers. Congrats!!
  11. It's not for very long but you will need more than two or three packages. Newborns go through lots of diapers. I'd buy a bunch of the newborn packages & what you don't use, you could give as gifts when you attend a baby shower for someone. Buy a package of cloth diapers too, you'll need them as burp cloths. Make sure you wash your baby clothes in a gentle detergent, such as Ivory Snow & use a little softener too. A new baby has such delicate skin.
  12. My son was premature he was in newborn size for 4 months after the premies. My daughter I believe was 3 months and she was full term. 6 pounds nine ounces at birth...it also depends on how big your baby is when born. I've known plenty of parents who stocked up and most had to buy at least another package or so here and there. Most people get diapers at baby showers too so don't forget about that. Just start a savings account, that is really the best bet. That way you will have a back up fund verse and over flow of diapers you may not need and end up donating or selling much cheaper at a yard sale.
  13. I wouldn't recommend buying diapers beforehand - you never know what size you will need, or how much. For instance, my baby was born very small, she could only wear the Pampers Swaddlers newborn diapers. Any other brand, (including other types of Pampers) were too big in the legs. I ended up with a package of diapers that I was never able to use, because they didn't fit her properly - imagine if I had bought a whole ton of that type! To answer your question, my baby was in the newborn diapers for the first 3 1/2 months, and she used 8-10 a day in the first couple months, 6-8 a day after that.
  14. my baby is one month just about and im still in nb diapers i have gone through about 4 packs im even able to use preemies still she was full term and weighs about 7 pounds im just assuming on the weight it depends on how much your little one weighs check the pack it should say how much weight should go in the diaper and you should go with the one that is a suitable weight for your baby!
  15. It depends on how big your baby is. My three were not in them for long maybe a week. My younger two were over 9 pounds at birth. My best friends daughter was in them for 2 months, she was just over 5 pounds at birth.
  16. my daughter went throught like 40 packs. she was 5 lbs 8oz when she was born so we went throught them for a long time. size ones were only like 4 packs and same with size 2 now she is in size 3 and has slowerd down in her growth
  17. That depends. My first child, a boy, was never in newborn diapers. He was huge. My daughter was in newborn diapers for about 4 months, then again she was really small and still is. Boys are usually bigger than girls at birth.
  18. Mine was only 8 lb 9 oz and by the time he left the hospital 2 days later he was already in size ones. And 8 lb 9 oz isn't huge, so it depends on shape too.
  19. i will buy about two boxes
  20. It depends on size..Mine was a little peanut,,,still is,,but he is 5months old 12ponds and still in size 1. He was in NB for about 2 months or so.
  21. Dont buy them too far in advance!!! I bought like 4 boxes of newborn diapers for my first child and she moved out of them while we were still in the hospital!!!!!!!!! Yes, it took her one whole day. The hospital sent me home with a package of pampers swaddlers size 1. in all honesty, there really isnt a difference in the size, unless your baby is really small, the only difference is the little whole in the middle for the umbilical cord to breathe.
