Baby diapers?
Ok, 7 I'm about 7 weeks from this baby being due and I was just wondering... About how many diapers a month do newborns go through (quantity and money wise). I'm trying desperately to budget, and I am so in the dark. At least that's how I feel. Also, how many outfits a day do newborns go through. How many outfits should I plan on having by the time my little one is born?

- Oh man, my son went through close to 10 diapers a day that first month, sometimes more. Also sometimes I changed his clothes 2-4 times a day b/c he spit up a lot. If it were me I would buy a couple of packs of those short sleeve onesies b/c they are easy to get baby in and out of and easy to change a diaper in and in the beginning they are wrapped in a blanket most of the time. Depending on your baby's size at birth, (unless he/she is really small) I would buy one large case of newborn diapers. They out grow them really fast. We were in 1's for a short period and then in the 2's and 3's a long time. Hope that helps!
- Gosh, I think I went through like.. 300 diapers that first month.. my son had the bad poopy squirts that would leak EVERYWHERE. So gross. I'm not sure how much it all was, I got them as a shower gift.. but, you can do the math, typically its about $12-15 for a thing of diapers... Outfits a day.. well that would go between 3-5, depending on his pooping outbursts for that day. I put him in onsies and socks most the time, then I just kept him wrapped in recieving blankets (those were my saviors.. or any other blankies). I'd go through like.. 5 of those a day (I used them as burp cloths, too..). Have fun!!
- My daughter, who was exclusively breastfed, pooped every time she fed and sometimes in between feedings for the first month and a half, so we went through at least 10-12 diapers a day. After the first 6 weeks though, she did not even have a bowel movement every day, sometimes went days without one (typical for exclusively breastfed babies), so we just changed 6-7 wet diapers a day. Therefore, expect to use A LOT of diapers those first few weeks, and then it gets better after that. Good luck and congratulations!
- The first few weeks, they go through quite a few... My 12 week old probably soils about 8 diapers a day, but in the first weeks, I think it was more like 10 (give or take 2--this is just an average). As far as outfits, I'd buy a bunch of onesies, but don't buy them all NB size... buy them 0-3 months so you can make them last. Both of my little guys were out of newborn sizes within the first two weeks--my 12 week old is wearing size 6 months already. Do you have a CostCo membership? If so, I highly recommend their diapers and wipes. I don't remember how much they cost (I'll have to edit this tomorrow after I go buy more of both!) I would buy only about 6-8 actual outfits for your newborn--just because you don't know how big he/she is going to be. Oh... and seriously consider buying USED clothing! They grow SOOOOO fast! Try craigslist.com!!!!! Good luck and congratulations!
- DONT FREAK AND WITH MY KIDDO I DIDNT HAVE ATON OF OUTFITS. I STARTED THE DAY WITH HIM LOOKING CUTE AS A BUTTON AND USUALLY HAD AN EXTRA ONSIE IN THE DIAPER BAG. ONESIE'S WERE MY BEST FRIEND. HE WENT THROUGH 2 OUFITS EVERY THIER DAY OR SO, USUALLY WE ONLY USED ONE OUTFIT A DAY. ALSO AS FAR AS DIAPERS, WE USUALLY GO THROUGH ABOUT 8 A DAY, IF THAT HELPS- DONT GO OUT AND BUY FOUR PACKS AT ONCE, MY KID GREW SO FAST THAT WE STILL HAVE nb DIAPERS AND HE DOESNT WEAR THEM ANYMORE. ***ALSO I WOULD SUGGEST YOU GET PJ'S, THE GOWNS WITH THE OPENING ON THE BOTTOM ARE PRETTY COOL. I THOUGHT THEY LOOKED DUMB AT FIRST BUT THEY REALLY MADE CHANGING HIS DIAPER AT NIGHT EASY. STICK TO COTTON JAMMIES, AND I'M NOT SURE WHERE YOUR AR, BUT WE'RE IN nc AND THOUGH IT'S HOT, MY SON SLEEPS BETTER WITH LONG SLEEVES, ONCE AGAIN STICK WITH COTTON, YOU THINK THEY'LL GET TOO COLD AND DRESS THEM LIKE AN ESKIMO AND THEY'LL KEEP YOU UP CRYING BC THIER TOO HOT (LEARNED BY EXPIRIENCE 1ST DAY HOME FROM HOSPITAL :-)... GOODLUCK AND HAVE FUN.
- newborns use about 160 diapers a month which is about 40 diapers a week........the price depends on where you buy them, the brand and how many on each bag/box. i buy them at walmart for about $25 a box of 104 diapers of huggies........but as they get older they are not going to pee as much so later on about 3-4 months, you don't have to change them that much. you'll probably use like 25-30 diapers a week. and also by then you can leave the diaper on all night and they wont get a rash.......................now the clothing. it also depends if they throw up a lot or not. my baby doesn't throw up so i keep an outfit on all day. but you can have about 9-14 outfits for one week just to make sure. but don't buy too many outfits 'cause they are going to outgrow them really quick.
- A newborn? About ten diapers a day. A couple of months in and go down to seven or eight. I went through three boxes ($15-$25 depending on the brand) in a month the first month or so and now (she is 7.5 months) we go through two boxes. To start I bought Pampers and then I got smart and started buying LUVS and different store brands. The store brands work, but I like the LUVs better and I usually get them on sale. About outfits - if your on a budget I would buy about ten in each size. If they go through three a day you will do laundry every three days.
- my daughter wore sleeper pjs for the first two months...she wore one a day and I changed her the next day...she is BF so she went through 10-12 diapers a day...30 days in a month you're looking at on average 250-300 diapers.
- A little advice, don't go for the individual onsies, go for the 3 or 5 packs. I don't know if you have a Bealls or Palais Royal where you live, but they have a LOT of clearance stuff and have 3 packs as well.
- we go thro SO many diapers (son is 8weeks) more then 10 a day id say. and he lives in a diaper and a shirt ALOT or a snap up/zip up sleeper around the house I LOVE Onesies.. dont buy alot of stuff before there born.. my son has been in Huggies 1-2 diapers since the day he was born. there for babys 8-15 pounds.. he was 9P12O at birth and hes almost grown out of them so dont buy tons of newborns.. and stay ways from newborn close.. just buy the 3-6 mth stuff and buy USED let people at your shower give you the new stuff.. you can shop New AFTER the kid-o is born. but we have stuff he never wore that our shower people gave us... i dought anybabys actualy use the newborn junk.. SOCKS buy SCOCKS that is the one thing we didnt have enough of and they get lost SO easy so only buy white or same colors..
