Have you tried Sun Baby cloth diapers? How to wash them?

Hi. I want to know if anyone bought Sun Baby cloth diapers. I have them and need help with the best method on washing them. Also, which detergent did you use? Also, I live in an apartment building and would use the laundry mat. I am also willing to hand wash although I would hang to dry. THANK YOU!

  1. I don't have that particular brand, but I have all different brands that I've collected and I handle them all the same. I put dirties into a dry bag (keep a bowl of vinegar sitting nearby to stop any smells). I wash all my laundry on cold in the machine, with either dr bronners magic soap or a homemade detergent (mix of ivory, borax, and washing soda). I use vinegar in the softener dispenser to keep them soft and fresh smelling. I usually line dry but use the dryer on occasion too.
  2. I have never heard of the brand that you are speaking of but, I did use cloth diapers for my son. I followed the directions below pretty much. I used Dreft laundry detergent and washed the diapers in hot water to kill the bacteria. I also added bleach to the water and double rinsed them. I did not have a dryer so I hung them outside to dry. I do not see why clothes bars would not work for you but, you have to keep in mind that you are going to be going through a lot of diapers. It's going to be rough using cloth diapers and going to the laundry mat. Also as your child gets older you will use even more diapers and it will be harder to contain the mess. I had to stop using cloth when my son started eating solids because, it was just too much.
  3. YOu may want to check with the seller, cause I know some Ebay dipaers say not to wash the pockets in hot water as it may damage the PUL. With that sid, most cloth diapers are washed pretty much the same way, since with cold water to get the poop and stuff out (dont do hot immediately or it will bake in the poop stains), then wash with HOT water with 1/4-1/2 load dertergent. Rinse twice if can. I live in an apt and I do hand wash so what i do is I alwasy rinse my inserts, and I rinse the pockets if theres poop on it. I fill the tub with cold water and let them soak while I do other stuff. then drain and fill with hot water and deteregent. I swish with my hands but if its too hot, you can buy a plunger and use that to get the water going through the dipes. I let it soak a little. THen come back, drain and fill with cold water again, swish to rinse once. then rinse again and ring. If I'm lazy, I dont fill with cold water again but I think its good because if there detergent still in hte diapers, they can start to either repell pee, or stink really bad.
  4. I got this from the Sun Baby ebay site: WASHING Remove the inserts.Water temperatures lower than 104F or 40C.Do not bleach. No fabric softener not very descriptive but no bleach and no fabric softener are 2 key things you have to remember. If you plan to hand wash this can be done after each diaper change right in a sink, rinse with cold water, let sit in hot water, wash using a "free" soap, wring out and hang to dry. Every once in awhile you can take them to clean at the laundry mat rinsing on cold, washing with soap (just a little) and using half to a cup of baking soda and vinager in the rinse, this will remove any stink that might build up. I have been using cloth diapers for 12 years now and i have 6 children there is no doubt that no matter how you choose to wash your diapers it's the best thing you can do! good luck and I hope this helps!
