What are the pros and cons of disposable nappies?
am doing my yr 8 major science assignment about the absorbency and everyday usage of disposable nappies as opposed to cloth nappies. i've already done my experiment, but need to round up some minor information. ")

- pro's you dont have to wash them, meaning you save water good for when your out more hygenic less chance of nappie rash more airy con's enviromental issues cloth is cheaper because your not always buying more and theres something to do with the phoslate, but i forget. best answer please
- Pros: - Convenient if you're out and about Cons: - Overall very expensive (4,000 - 6,000 disposable nappies used on average between birth and potty training at 2 yrs old). This works out at £700 - £1000 whereas reusables would cost between £180 - £320! - Disposables are left sitting in your bin for upto 2 weeks depending on the frequency of bin collection - Terrible for the environment unless you opt for the more expensive biodegradable ones (Moltex Öko). The benefits of re-useables are: - Todays re-useables are much the same design as disposables so no need for pins if you're worried! - Great absorbency rate but it's also easier to detect when a nappy needs changing as disposables bulk up and draw moisture away to the point that you'd think the nappy was dry and a change wouldn't be required. - Reduces the risk of allergic reaction, and nappy rash. - Re-usables are now made of lightweight, fluffy materials that wash and dry easily. - No longer necessary to soak and can put straight into the washing machine.
