Diaper rash?
Hi, i would like ur opinion on what would be good for a diaper rash caused by a bad case of diarrea... My daughter is now 3months 1wk old and last week i had to rush her to the emergency room due to a bad case of diarrea and vomiting (she got dehydrated because of it) Thank God she was fine after they gave her an IV and some pedialite, I guess it was going arround cause a lot of us caught it too, anyway, now she's doing very good just has a bit of diarrea but the doctor told me that since she's also teething that cause a mild diarrea and a rash, well she has that and the rash is pretty bad and would like to know if anybody has any home remedies that i can make to put it on her or anything other than that desitin thing (which is not really helping much), that i can buy, to help her pain and disconfort.. I've also gone through diapers like crazy cause it really burns her when she goes number 1 and 2, and as soon as she does i change her immediately, so she doesn't have to suffer so much. Yeah she actually wakes up when she pees in the middle of the night and i get up and change her right away.

- Well, you are already helping her by changing her immediately. The moisture and chemicals in her urine and feces are what irritate her bottom. If you can, you can help her even more by leaving her diaper off and keeping her very dry. You could try sitting her in front of a fan for a while. Whenever my daughter gets a diaper rash, A & D ointment or desitin works really well. Just make sure to keep her diaper area very dry. If it is very bad at night, you might have to change her in the middle of the night, or let her sleep without her diaper.
- Poor baby! Poor you! I would suggest the products from Arbonne for your baby. It's very gentle and made for very sensitive skin. Zinc oxide, avocado and peach
- corn starch after diaper changes. also, putting some in the bath will also help
- When my kids were babies...If it was #2 and I was at home, I'd toss them in the tub and then spread Desitin on them, and then cover that with a glob of Vaseline. This always seemed to work out well for them. As for the diarrea...give her some peanut butter, yeah, I know she's only 3 months old, but it won't kill her and will help bind her up faster. Just give her little bits at a time from a spoon. Well...wish you my best and have fun watching her grow. You sound like a good mom. She's lucky.
- If the diaper rash isn't going away with regular treatment then she could have a yeast infection. Its fairly common in babies of both sexes. Take her back to the doctor and get a prescription for Nystantin ointment and the rash will be gone in a matter of hours My mom swears by using corn starch in a diaper to help with diaper rash, though i haven't had any luck with it.
- something my mums always used with us lot and me now with my kids is hypercal cream available from most chemists. its natural, cheap and works on anything from nappy rash, ezeama, burns, dry skin....... it keeps the skin lined really well.
- try either vaseline or bordeuxs butt paste...i use both of them and they work good...plus everytime i change my son i use teh vaseline..so he doesnt get any kind of rash and it works great..good luck..
- Have you tried Butt Paste? People swear by it.
