Premium Nappies

How can I prevent my kitchen bin from smelling after putting my baby nappies in it?

Before I throw away the nappies, I wrap them in scented nappy bags but the bin still smells and by the time the bin gets full, the smell becomes unbearable. I don't really want to buy a seperate nappy bin because I think this is uneccesary. I have resorted to emptying the bin everytime my baby does a poo(which means everyday, bin bags don't come cheap) I'd like to know if there are other ways round this.

  1. i always used to put my kids one in the outside bin
  2. Put your nappies into a nappy bag first
  3. We used a diaper genie. It worked great because it locked the smell in. I would buy one if I was you, it will eliminate all smells.
  4. Put the baby's doo doo nappies in the bin outside.
  5. Try putting a air freshener on the lid of you bid or use ground coffee in the bottom of you bin this helps!!! Otherwise buy a new bin!!!
  6. It's the same as cat litter. You really need to put in in the bin outside. Would you not be better using re-usable nappies and then you can just wash them?
  7. you keep the used nappies in the kitchen bin? seriously love, that is minging!
  8. Invest in a DIAPER GENIE! They are the best. When you live in an apt or somewhere where you can't bring the diaper immediately outside, it's great. I kept ours in the kitchen, and I could never smell it (unless it was ungodly full)
  9. Not very Eco friendly are you. Buy more bin bags and dispose of them more appropriately.
  10. Yuck! Throw them in the outside bin, it's far more hygenic anyway.
  11. I use the Diaper Genie for my grandson! Man can he empty out a room fast! POO STINKY!
  12. Change the kid's diet.
  13. I used to put dirty nappies in the outside bin, only just wee ones inside. They do make special nappy bins though...small and compact...maybe worth looking around for? Featured in most baby mags.
  14. We had a separate bin for nappies. I suppose that kind of upbringing is why I'm so spoiled and profligate now.
  15. try an find a air tight bin i dont know if they do them but that would solve the smell being in the air all the time, but not when you open the bin hmm .... hard one only feed your baby nice smelling foods?? double wrap them in scented bags, u have probably tried that one tho. how about placing your bin some were that it wont be as bad by an open window. o well i tired for you, good luck xxx
  16. put it inside a plastic bag and tie it so it won't smell, spray lysol on the bin
  17. I throw my baby's dirty nappies in the outside bin.
  18. Can't you just put the nappy straight into your outside bin and save the smell in the house and the expensive of having to change the bin bags all the time? If you can't keep going out during the day how about re-using old carrier bags during the day for nappies and then putting that into the outside bin each night?
  19. Of course you could use a plastic grocery sack to put your daily dirty nappies in, they are free and very useful. You might also try having a large empty coffee can to put the dirty diapers in. Another thing, try wrapping the nappie in a newspaper, the ink in the paper absorbs a lot of odors.
  20. U really should empty your bin every day - for health and hygeane reasons. You can put you baby's nappies in a supermarket bag and that way keep it separate from the rest and then throw it out every day or twice a day.
  21. Yes, there are other ways around this. One, you could buy 'Glen 21' odour spray sold in your local supermarket and spray the bin. Two, you could spray each and every bag you put baby's nappy in before you tie it up to dispose. Three, why buy bin bags when you could save money too by just allowing your grocery to be placed in plastics and you could use those instead. You could just throw the poo nappies straight away in the outside bin or alternatively I know you do not want to spend money but it may be worth buying one of those special nappy bins sold in the baby specialist shops.
  22. use proper nappies a lot more eco friendly
  23. I always put them in a nappy bag and put them in the outside bin right away........its the only way! x
  24. your gonna have to empty your bin everyday,I use free carrier bags from when I do my shopping. If your baby does solid poo then tip it down the loo,the poo not the nappy!
  25. Take them out immediately - then just deodorise the bin...!
  26. A kitchen bin is the worst place for dirty nappies. Always use the bin outside. Nappies make the house smell so always make sure you avoid that. Another option is the nappy wrapper bins, specifically meant for nappies. They seal in the air so that's good because dirty nappy smells don't linger in the house.
  27. I used cloth diapers at home and soaked the diapers in water with vinegar or lemon juice ( I disposed all solid matter in the toilet ) and washed them every other day. I only used disposable diapers when we left home. Disposable diapers make it harder to potty train because the absorbent filling in them works too good and the child doesn't feel the discomfort of being wet.
  28. Don't ! Take it Right away to the trash can. Out side!!! Instead of using a trash bag use a grocery bag. I save all mine.I use them as liner in my bathroom trash cans .works for me
  29. put it in your outside bin
  30. put them in the bin outside
