Premium Nappies

Is it very hard and time consuming to use cloth nappies?

I'm due with baby #1 in September, and I was thinking about cloth nappies. Money isn't a worry, but I sort of want to be a really good Mum who cooks homemade food and does the cloth nappy thing lol! How are they opposed to disposables? Also I forgot to add, I've never changed a nappy before!! So should I perhaps start with disposables and work my way up lol?

  1. First you can be an awesome mommy and still use disposables. The type of diapers does not show what kind of mother you are. Cloth diapers would be more work and more laundry. If your good with that, then go for it. But if you don't want to do laundry everyday, then use disposables, it's up to you.
  2. disposables are better for away from home
  3. cloth diapers are great for the environmentally friendly!!! Yes there will be laundry daily, but if you want to go "traditional" and help the world that is the way to go!
  4. I used cloth nappies with my daughter 37 years ago and now she is using disposables with her little son. The modern disposables actually seem to keep the baby drier as the material pulls wetness away from him as opposed to it staying in the nappy.
  5. "So should I perhaps start with disposables and work my way up lol?" No need! The "all-in-one" cloth dipes on the market are silly-easy to use. I still use disposables when out and about and at night, but the rest're cloth. I also use cloth wipes. There is added laundry, but so what? Fire into washer, fire into dryer...it ain't back-breaking drudgery if your appliances are decent; this isn't years ago when you had to wash them by hand. A nice cloth diaper is infinitely more pleasant to use than any smelly disposable, too. Check out http://bluepenguin.biz/aio.html for an idea of the "all in one" I mean...
