Menstrual pads or disposable diapers--which is worse for the environment?

There's talk of "banning" disposable diapers in years to come. But babies only wear them for about 2-3 years of their lives. What about menstrual pads: are they better, worse or about the same on the environment?

  1. well if they think of getting rid of them, what will we use??? People are going to overboard on going green. THERE IS NO GLOBAL WARMING!!!!!!!!!!
  2. I think they are essentially the same.
  3. Many sanitary napkin manufactures are now using more readily biodegradable materials in their products. Unlike diapers, sanitary napkins are not made with moisture crystals, and heavy plastics and while they are liquid resistant not normally "waterproof" like diapers. I am sure the tampon manufacturers are very excited at the thought of bans placed on sanitary napkins! For those who ae determined to live "green" consider the use of mentstral cup.
