What is the best thing to put on a diaper rash?
How can you tell the difference in a diaper rash and a yeast infection? My baby was just put on antibiotics. Can that cause a rash?

- Clean your babies skin and put on any diaper rash cream. If you can let your babies butt "air" for a coupld of hours at a time before you put the diaper back on, it will heal faster.
- go to www.babycenter.com it helped me when i was worried clear a+d ointment clears diaper rash up pretty fast
- Tips to prevent and treat diaper rash: Check your baby's diaper every hour and change it often-as soon as it's wet or soiled. Clean your baby's bottom at each diaper change. Use plain warm (not hot) water with or without a very mild soap. Allow your baby's skin to dry before putting on a clean diaper. Use zinc oxide ointment (some examples are Zincofax, Penaten Cream, Zinaderm, Desitin Diaper Rash Ointment, Prevex-Baby Diaper Rash Cream) or petroleum jelly (an example is Vaseline) to protect your baby's skin from moisture. Avoid using plastic pants. Change the type of wipes, diapers or soap you're using. If you use cloth diapers, try boiling them for 15 minutes after you wash them to get all of the soap and germs out.
- well my aunt uses this disaden stuff or you could use different dipers and disaden.
- butt paste, I swear this stuff works after a few hours. The red is reduced dramatically.
- Original (clear) A+D is going to heal it in hours. I use a little bit of it every diaper change and my 15 month old had a rash only once.
- Yes your baby has a rash from the antibiotics, it should go away in a few days, just add baby powder with each diaper change, if the rash doesn't clear up in a few days call your baby's doctor.
- i have two boys and i use the same thing with both of them. First wash their bottom with warm water and a very mild soap. Allow to air dry for about 10 minutes. Then i put neosporin with pain reliever in it.(buy it at you local cvs, ekerd, ect) Then i put desitin on top of that so that when they go again its there as a barrier and won't burn or scald their skin.
- Yes, antibiotics disrupt the normal bacteria in the digestive tract making it easier for yeast to grow, hence the diaper rash. You may need to call your doctor and ask for nyaststin cream. Also, sunlight kills yeast too!
- My daughter had a nasty diaper rash after taking antibiotics for a while and her doctor said to make a paste of Vaseline, Mylanta, and antibiotic ointment. The Mylanta helps with the acidity of the urine, and Vaseline acts as a barrier, and they antibiotic ointment heals. It really worked for her. It's cheap and worth a try.. Make sure to wash with mild soap and let as much air get to it as possible. Wipes make is worse. Good luck, Amanda
- Coming from a dads point of view that has had 2 kids with diaper rash......... I swear by Triple Paste. If they are crying due to the pain, they wont be in an hour. Ask your pharmacist
- boudreaux's butt paste. no kidding that is the real name. that is the best stuff EVER. www.buttpaste.com
- the antibiotics could start the rash.. i found to really help the rash go away i used balmex.. i love it.. its in a blue and white tube... its like destin but i like this better... to keep the rash aways i use baby powder with corn starch! at night, or when you know you aren't going to be able to change your child right away try using more baby powder! also do not use both at the same time it will just make a goopy mess!
- AIR!! Clean your baby's bottom first, then let them hang out without a diaper for a bit. Rash cremes are all well and good, but never replaces this.
