How do you know if a diaper rash caused by the brand of diaper?

My son is a month old. He had a yeast infection that was caught early. He was in Huggies. The infection went away. Then we went to Parent's Choice from Walmart and he got an diaper rash right away. I assumed it was the daipers. We are now trying another name brand and the rash is there. Would it be that he is sensitve to some types of diapers? I think he may have sensitve skin as the heat gives him that heat rash whiteheads on his face.

  1. My six month old gets heat rashes all the time, and little pimples too. She wears Huggies because offbrand diapers and even Pampers give her diaper rash. I think it's something about the way they fit. However, my best friend's daughter does best in Pampers. I think it all depends on the baby. I don't think the Huggies had anything to do with the yeast infection, that just happens sometimes. If they fit him the best, I'd keep buying those.
  2. The best way to tell is go back to Huggies...and when the rash clears up try another brand of diaper, and if the rash comes back then you know its the diaper...My first daughter could only wear Pampers until she was 1 then for some reason she was able to go to generic brands of diapers without any problem...but that is the way I had to do it to find out....Put the brand on that does not make him break out then try a new diaper and so on and so forth until you know what he can wear and what he can't. Or it may very well be heat rash because it does get hot down there and with moisture from wet diapers or poopy diapers it can intensify the rash so if you are up to it you can let him "air out" for a little while before putting him back in a diaper and see how well that does...when all else fails use ointment. Best of Luck to ya Diaper Rash can be hell to deal with = )
  3. i have allways started using pampers (they seam to do better at birth) then i switch to luvs. i like loves for $20 you get alot. enough to last a hole month in most cases. your baby might be getting milk acne just wipe his face after he eats, most heat is on the back and in fat rolls.
  4. Are you changing him when you are supposed to? Are you sure its not a heat rash? It might be that he is allergic to something. Try going to his pediatrician to find out.
  5. i suggest using Alloy organic ointment. i have noticed that basicly all the name-brand "Desitin" products make my boys rashes worse. he doesnt have sensitive skin at all, so im not sure why, but Desitin just doesnt work for him. OH one more thing! the diapers you are using have mildly toxic gel in them to absorb the pee and poo. you might be better off just using cloth diapers until hes a little older and his skin isnt as sensitive.
  6. Some kids are just sensitive to having a diaper on in general, even if there are no perfumes in them. One thing I had to do with my kids is make sure they had a non perfume diaper then tried different types of diaper rash cream and when I found the one that worked I just put it on them every time I changed their diaper (although it doesn't sound like my kids are as bad as your son). A&D ointment was the only thing that worked on my kids but every child is different. If it continues to be an issue I would discuss it with his doctor and see if together you can find a good solution for it.
  7. It could be the soap you're using, the diaper rash product, I do believe they make a non perfume diaper try that. Unlike the other mother just because it fits good she uses it. It could be a no. of things. It is very hurtful for the baby so keep trying to figure it out, it might even be the formula.
  8. If you want to get away from diaper rashes then I would suggest that you switch to cloth diapers. Cloth is always better than disposable. It's cheaper over the long run, it breathes where disposables can't meaning less to no diaper rashes. It's softer against the baby's skin, and it isn't as hot and sticky as disposable. Laundering cloth isn't that much trouble, maybe one to two loads a week, but it is insignificant when compared to the comfort and health of your baby. I know all this because my two kids were both cloth diapered the whole time they were in diapers. I also know it because I myself wear cloth diapers all the time. I'm incontinent and I've worn both disposable and cloth, and I'm here to tell you, cloth is the only way to go. Good luck.
  9. maybe hes allergic to the cotton, or something they put in all the diapers
