How to soothe a diaper rash on a 7 month old?
My son is 7 months old. Today he has had 6 bowel movements, and a small diaper rash that started yesterday has now turned into a 2 small patches of bleeding red bumps (not bad bleeding, but open bumps). What can I do to help the rash go away, and sooth my baby? Thanks.

- bathe your baby in lukewarm water, pat dry and add penaten cream or any zinc based cream. If it doesn't go away in about 48 hours, i would consult a doctor as it may have turned into an infection.
- That kind of sounds like yeast to me so you might want to take him to the Doctor on Monday. When my kids had diaper rash I found that the best thing that worked is when they had a BM, wash it off in the tub or use the spray hose in the sink, those wipes can be harsh to a sore bottom. Aslo, let the skin air out as much as you can and change the diaper very often. I never had any luck with diaper cream.
- i had the same problem yesterday with my son, poor little sausage you need to try and keep him as dry as possible in that area so change his nappy regulary you could you baby powder until you can get to a chemist and get a cream. if you ask the pharmaistist they will be able to point yoou in the right derection. best of luck
- triple antibiotic ointment, oatmeal bath, corn starch, medicated powder, let him go a little while without a diaper
- Best it give bath on his bottom and let it dry up and put cream diaper rash . However Best is to Change diaper Often. And be sure he not allegry from Diaper brand. My son get diaper rash from Huggies and other cheap brand. we use Luvs and Pampers best. Also Wipes from Pampers sentitives it help lots. Since my son never had an BAD diaper rash did have several time since born due i keep cleaning and change diaper and put rash cream every time it start little rash. if small pee on diaper go ahead change it. not wait til full. I always check my son's diaper every time. He pee lots and poop often all baby do. Hope succesful if not then go Dr they will give you special cream.
- Keep him as clean and dry as possible and I love Super Duper Diaper Doo. I use it for my 3 month old and my Mom used it with her daycare for as long as I can remember. It's not the easiest stuff to find but check their web site to see if you can get it in your area. Also diaper free time always helps...it's a little dangerous but it'll give his but a chance to breathe.
- Let him soak for 5-10 min. in a warm bath with a couple teaspoons of baking soda in it. Let him air dry, just running around naked for a few minutes. Then apply your favorite diaper rash ointment. For me it is the Burt's Bees all natural diaper rash cream. Good luck!
- wit my daughter wen she was little she got quite bad nappy rash that would literally bleed. I would either give her a nice warm bath or wipe it gently wit warm water n cotton wool then either use sudocrem or vasagen cream. The vasagen seemed to work better for her but different creams work best for dif skins. Tlk to ur gp for more advise
- I had to coat my son's bottom in Vaseline when this happened. He was on antibiotics which would cause diarhea. They make a baby scent Vaseline too. The Vaseline worked better than powder and diaper rash cream. Also try to wash his bottom in warm water rather than wipes.
- Loads of desitin after all diaper changes. Maybe some tylenol. If it gets too bad take him to the doctor.
- Is he teething? That will cause lots of poopies and a red raw bum. I used barrier cream. (it was literally called barrier cream) It had silicone in it or maybe it was zinc. it was the only thing to cure my sons sore bum. If you can find it Bum or Bottom butter is awesome too.
- My two favorite balms for this are Butt Paste (found at Wal-Mart, Safeway, Fry's & Walgreen's and I'm sure others) and A & D ointment. I had 3 babies with VERY BAD food allergies that caused severe diaper rashes and all 4 of our children & 3 grandchildren have had very sensitive skin due to allergies and eczema. The added benefit of A & D is that both of these vitamins actually nourish the skin while providing a barrier against the caustic elements in your babies stool and urine. In extreme cases, baking soda or oatmeal baths will help in addition to the ointments. You might also try using plain warm water on a soft baby washcloth to cleanse at diapering in place of diaper wipes, as these can sometimes aggravate a bad rash. BTW, I am also an EMT (11yrs) and have worked as a school health attendant (7yrs) and Patient Tech in a nursing home (2yrs). Hope this helps. Mrs. Susan Aiton, NREMT-B
- i liked to use destin diaper rash cream it worked really good and went away fast!
- I have a two month old and I recently had to get rid of a bad diaper rash. My Pediatrician said stop using baby wipes because the baby's bottom is too sensitive (as did my mother). I was told to just use a washcloth with water and pat dry do not rub. She also gave me a suggestion to rinse out the baby wipes and put them back in the box that way all the ingredients would be rinsed out of the wipes(instead of using washcloths) I perfered using washcloths. I would also let him airdry for 2-3 hours a day for two days. I also recommend using Desitin (because it uses 10% Zinc Oxide) instead of Balmex (it uses 11.3% Zinc Oxide) Too strong especially when your baby already has a sore tush. My baby boy responded so much better to Desitin. If you want the diaper rash to go away ASAP use Lotrimin AF antifungal (Pediatrician recommended it to my sister -mother of two girls) I used it and the diaper rash went away immediately. It is definately the best secret weapon against diaper rash. Do not use it every diaper change try it once and see how it works and if need be use it again.
- I am telling you this and I will SWAER by it UDER Ointment?? It comes in a tube that looks like a cow's spots!~ It does wonders TRY IT!!!!
